Limewash Stucco and Concrete in Cedar Park

Typical cost in Cedar Park

  • One wall or garden wall, about 300 sq ft$900 – $2,100+
  • One-story stucco house, about 1,500 sq ft$4,500 – $10,500+
  • Two-story stucco house, 2,000–2,500 sq ft$6,000 – $17,500+

For Cedar Park homes with cement stucco or concrete, Cedar Park Limewash Painting offers limewash on house walls, courtyard and garden walls, block and poured concrete, inside or out. Clean, sound cement surfaces absorb limewash, and the result is a soft, mottled finish that reads like aged plaster rather than a painted skin.

These surfaces vary in porosity and may carry old coatings, so a test and a sample patch come first. Stucco and concrete work covers Cedar Park and Brushy Creek, Round Rock, Jonestown, Volente, Hudson Bend, Lago Vista and Liberty Hill.

Stucco and concrete limewash options

Stucco houses

Unpainted cement stucco, including stucco with the color mixed in, takes limewash well once it is washed and any hairline cracks are filled. If it was painted with acrylic, it needs a bonding primer approved by the limewash maker; elastomeric coatings normally have to come off.

New stucco

Stucco has to cure before anything goes on it. For new Portland cement stucco, Romabio’s 2017 Classico data sheet says to wait roughly three to four weeks (21 to 28 days); each brand publishes its own wait.

Courtyard and garden walls

Low stucco walls, gate piers and planters can match the house or go a shade deeper. Their tops catch water, so caps are checked and sprinklers aimed away while the lime cures.

Concrete block

Concrete block garden walls and garages lose their utility look under limewash. The mortar lines drink more lime than the block faces do, so a first coat is pushed into every pore and a lighter second coat brings the two together.

Poured concrete

Poured or board-formed concrete can go from flat gray to a softer tone closer to stone. Anything left on the surface, such as form oil, curing compound or sealer, keeps the lime out, so the wall is cleaned and water-tested before a sample goes on.

Is the stucco ready?

Check for hollow-sounding patches, cracks and white salt crust, and find out whether anything has been applied before. Water repellents, acrylic paint and elastomeric coatings all block the lime, but each has its own fix: acrylic can sometimes take the maker’s primer, while elastomeric is normally stripped.

Outside, curing lime needs protection from rain, wind and direct sun. Around Cedar Park that means coats in spring or fall, starting early and working wall by wall in the shade, with sprinklers turned off.

Colors that suit stucco

Warm off-whites, sand and light clay bring stucco texture forward, and deeper earth tones suit courtyard walls and outbuildings. A sample patch on the wall itself, or a board with the same texture, shows how much movement the finished wall will have. If an HOA reviews exterior colors, its approval comes before the work is booked.
